PCs installed with windows 10 will always have latest updates from Microsoft by default. With automatic updating, you don’t have to worry about device driver updates, critical window fixes etc. Windows will download and installs updates for you as soon as they become available. But some user doesn’t find this option appealing because they can’t stop automatic updates which interfere with system and network resources when they are doing critical work. And if anyone has metered connection then these automatic options will be going to cost him a lot.

Yes, unlike window 8.1 and previous version of windows, users can’t turn off auto updates completely in windows 10. In this article, we will tell you how to stop auto updates in windows 10.

You can’t stop window 10 from installing updates like this. But if you want to stop auto window updates for any reason then follow these steps:

1. Go to the Cortana/search box and search services.msc. Open it.

2. Look for ‘Windows Update’ in the services list.

3. Double click on ‘Windows Update’ services. You will see 4 options.

Four options are automatic (Delayed Start), Automatic, Manual, and Disabled. Choose either manual or disabled option. I will recommend choosing the manual option because choosing disabled option will stop ‘window store’ from working and you won’t be able to update apps also. So, go for the manual option.

4. Click Apply and OK.

From now on automatic window updates will not start by itself. If you want to fix any issues in windows then look for updates manually.
